A framework for making decisions in uncertain markets

July 2026 · 4 min read

When headlines move faster than fundamentals, a clear decision framework can help separate meaningful change from market noise.

Uncertainty is a permanent feature of investing, not an exception. The goal of a disciplined process is not to predict every turn; it is to make decisions with a clear view of objectives, evidence, and risk.

We begin with the role each position plays in the portfolio. Has the underlying thesis changed? Has the balance of risk and potential reward shifted? Does the position still fit the client’s time horizon, liquidity needs, and capacity for uncertainty?

Market movement alone does not answer those questions. Price can be useful information, but it is most valuable when evaluated alongside fundamentals, portfolio concentration, and the reason the investment was made in the first place.

Active oversight means being prepared to act when evidence changes while retaining the patience not to react to every headline. That balance—responsiveness without impulsiveness—is central to our approach.
